Taste

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut bibendum tortor sit amet ligula rutrum, at porta tortor convallis ...

What happens to our brain when we get a taste of something which brings us pleasure? Whether it be food, sex, drugs or alcohol — they all have a similar hijacking effect on your brain.

Pleasure is driven by the release of a range of neurotransmitters in many parts of the brain, but dopamine release in the brain’s reward system is particularly important. Dopamine release tells the brain when to expect something rewarding, modulates how rewarding it will be and drives us to seek rewarding things. All drugs of abuse from nicotine to heroin, no matter their primary mode of action, release dopamine. Other rewarding experiences – sex, food, and gambling – are also associated with increases in dopamine release. Fortunately, most addictive patterns are completely reversible and there is hope for a better brain and life.

Love the new artwork in my office and living room. It lifts us up everyday, acts as a conversation piece in Zoom calls, and we love the most being able to support artists in our communities as well.
